The Republic of Serbia is a Parliamentary Republic based on adult suffrage with three branches of governance.

 

Executive Branch:  The Head of State is the President, Boris Tadic elected in June 2004 for a four-year term.

 

 

 

 

 

The Head of Government is the Prime Minister. Mirko Cvetkovic
was elected in July 2008 as Prime Minister.

 

 

 

Legislative Branch: The Parliament of Serbia is a unicameral house with 250 members who are normally elected for a four-year term. However, they can be replaced by their party even before completion of the term. In Serbia the mandate is with the party concerned and not with the member of Parliament.

 

Judicial Branch: The judges to the Supreme Court and Constitutional Court are elected by the Parliament for a period of 9 years.

Council of Ministers: The Council of Ministers is headed by the Prime Minister and at present consists of the following members:

Ivica Dacic: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior
Bozidar Djelic: Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration and Minister of Science

Jovan Krkobabic: Deputy Prime Minister
Vuk Jeremic: Minister of Foreign Affairs
Dragan Sutanovac: Minister of Defence
Diana Dragutinovic: Minister of Finance
Snezana Malovic: Minister of Justice
Sasa Dragin: Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management
Petar Skundric: Minister of Energy and Mining
Milutin Mrkonjic: Minister of Infrastructure
Milan Markovic: Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government
Slobodan Milosavljevic: Minister of Trade and Services
Zarko Obradovic: Minister of Education
Snezana Samardzic-Markovic: Minister of Youth and Sports
